Thanos Pallis

Thanos Pallis (BSc, MA, PhD, Fulbright (Columbia, USA)) is a Professor in Port and Maritime Economics & Policy at the Department of Maritime Studies of University of Piraeus, where he also directs the Integrated Port Economics & Management Laboratory.

He is a founder and co-director of PortEconomics, Vice-Chair of the Port Performance Research Network (PPRN), a member of the International Association of Ports & Harbors (IAPH) Risk and Resilience Committee. He served as President of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME), a Secretary-General of MedCruise and General Secretary of the Greek state for Ports and Port Policy.

Thanos has worked in ports and maritime logistics on all different continents, contributed to the formulation of port policies by participating in relevant studies. He has published several book chapters, journal papers, working papers, reports and presented at numerous international conferences.

He is the author and co-author of books including Port Economics, Management & Policy (English, 2022; Greek, 2025), Port Economics (Greek, 2023). European Port Policy (Greek, English, Japanese), European Maritime Transport Policies (Greek, English), Maritime Transport: The Greek Shipping Paradigm (English).
